Description: Bog moss is a submersed aquatic plant. It may be found in water several feet deep, such as in streams, ponds, springs, and lakes.

The stems of bog moss are typically several feet long. The stems are whitish-green. The leaves are soft and mossy, like short pieces of fine thread. The leaves are only 1/4 inch long. They are arranged spirally on the stem, and are densely crowded. Flowers are solitary, on stalks that are one to two inches long. The small, 1/2-inch-wide flowers have three petals and are whitish to pink.
