surface sow seed indoors in late winter, keep moist until seedlings emerge, grow in full sun and cool conditions, set seedlings outdoors 6-8 weeks before last frost, six inches apart in rows that are one foot apart, after seedlings have diameter of pencil start applying mulch for weed control, eventually mulching six inches deep for blanching
