Provenance: volunteer in aquatic tanks, initially labelled Nitella sp. by Matt Opel, name changed to Chara cf. zeylanica on 28-Oct-2008 after being keyed out to one of the zeylanica group (likely either C. zeylanica or C. haitensis) of Chara by Louise Lewis and Karolina Fucikova.
