Description: [syn Araucaria excelsa]

Mature trees to 200 feet, pyramidal; juvenile leaves awl-shaped, incurved, laterally flattened, decurrent, light green, soft, to 1/2 inches long; adult leaves closely overlapping, lanceolate-ovate to triangular with blunt incurved apex and obscure midrib; male cones 1.5 to 2 inches long, female cones sub-globose, 3-5 inches long, 3-6 inches in diameter, the mucro at tip of scales short, not recurved.
