Description: Reineckia carnea is a perennial herb native to China and Japan. This species, which reaches 8 in (20 cm) in height with a 15 in (38 cm) spread, produces its almost cup-shaped, dark pink flowers to 1/2 in (12 mm) wide in late spring. If the summer months are warm, round berries will appear in fall (autumn).

It can be easily confused with Ophipogon, except that Reineckia carnea has shorter and wider leaves. Grown as a groundcover in mild climates and is occasionally used as a potted plant.

Uses: The root is appetizer, cardiotonic and vulnerary. Strengthens the memory.
