Description: Native to far northern Australia, where it is one of 3 indigenous species, Cochlospermum fraseri makes a crooked shrub or small tree up to 30 ft (9 m) high. The leaves are slightly hairy, up to 6 in (15 cm) wide, with 3 to 7 shallow lobes. The flowers are bright golden yellow, up to 3 in (8 cm) across, borne on leafless branches late in the dry season (spring). If kept watered in a garden the leaves may persist and be present with the flowers.
